Graffiti artist Temper offers his original take on music cover art in the cover:versions collection.
“Album sleeves were like an art gallery to me as a child, by looking at a cover I could escape into a new place or environment; it provided me with a playground for my creativity.” - Temper.
Pink Gum represents the Pink Floyd album, Ummagumma. This cover demonstrates both literal and metaphorical depictions of Pink Floyd, with subtle nods to many of their songs hidden in the artwork.
Fine Art Publisher Washington Green Fine Art has worked closely with the artist to produce this bespoke vinyl record frame, designed especially for the cover:versions canvas editions by Temper. Producing the vinyl frame the right way is a time-consuming and labour-intensive undertaking — it requires the use of only premium materials, and relies on the skill and focus of talented artisans. The choice of manufacturing method and finest materials were critical to give an exact replica of the artist’s original in detail, colour and finish. Washington Green spent the best part of a year in development to ensure this level of quality, experimenting with several different processes and materials before settling on the those that provide the product you see today. Such is the attention to detail, it is possible to see not only the grooves in the records but the surface scratches on the records present on the original. Take a look at the framing process infographic.
